A Knight to remember

It’s Monday folks so that means it’s time to hand out Mr. Canola. Let’s get to it.

Winner: Chandler Stephenson, Vegas Golden Knights

I’m gonna be honest I am hesitant to award Mr. Stephenson with such an honour this week. Not because he did not earn it. He certainly did. He was lights out. I am cautious because I know the confidence this award can instil in someone. The last thing I need is him coming out and playing the series of his life against Colorado.

The former Regina Pat was one of the Golden Knights top players during their 7 game series win over Minnesota. He put up a very respectable 5 points in 7 games. He saved his best game for the biggest stage. He had 2 assists, including setting up Max ‘soft as baby shit’ Pacioretty for the game winner in the deciding game. He was buzzing all over the ice that night.

Stephenson has really come into his own since being acquired by Vegas last season. He was stuck in a depth role while in Washington. With the Golden Knights he has been able to showcase his offensive abilities skating on their top line with Mark Stone and SABS.

I have it on good authority that during his junior playing days in the Queen City he would regularly shut down ‘The Owl’ on the U of R campus. Respect.

Unfortunately for him things are only going to get worse from here. Vegas doesn’t stand a chance against Colorado after the shit kicking they took last night. Rumour has it they attempted to forfeit the series, but the Avs declined the offer.

Congratulations on the award Mr. Stephenson.
