I sure don’t like how often Mr. Canola is ending up in the hands of a player from the Golden Knights. However, being the unbiased journalist that I am, I have no choice but to give it to the most deserving player. Clearly this week that was Brayden McNabb.
Not known as an offensive threat since becoming an NHL regular, the former Kootenay Ice standout has posted a very respectable 3 points in his last 5 games. The biggest one being last nights tying goal that sent the game into overtime, which the Knights would eventually win. Life is all about timing.
Truth be told, he had this award wrapped up 15 seconds into the second period of game 3. He looked like a young Rob Blake by delivering the massive ass to chest hit on Nick Suzuki. That sealed it for me. There is not much more I enjoy than a big hit in the playoffs.
McNabb has really come into his own this season playing in the Vegas top 4. He is the prototypical big, nasty defenceman that teams covet this time of year.
The A&W in McNabb’s hometown of Davidson has offered him a lucrative sponsorship deal upon hearing about this award win.
Congratulations Mr. McNabb.
